About Us

Tom was born and raised in San Diego County making him extremely
knowledgeable about communities within the San Diego area. He studied
and lived at San Diego State University from 1978 to 1983 and bought his
first home in Escondido at the age of 24. Tom's wealth of knowledge has
helped him close over $200 million in sales in over 400 transactions
from 1997 to October 2013, earning the Chairman's Circle Award in 1998
thru 2004, an honor reserved for the top 2% of Prudential Agents
nationwide. He has received the President's Circle Award from 2005 to
2012, an award reserved for the top 4% of Prudential Agents nationwide.
The Blue Brothers are also Legends Award recipients. At the time, this
was the pinnacle award reserved for the top real estate producers within
the company. The Legend award is given to those select real estate
agents who received the Chairman´s Circle award five years in a row.

Tom started his relationship with Prudential California Realty when he
began his real estate career because he wanted to work for the #1 real
estate company in San Diego County. Originally sharing a desk in the
highly productive Rancho Bernardo office, Tom's business exploded to
where he now has one office in Escondido and another in Rancho Bernardo.
His original mentor, Jim and Nancy McNabb, have told him, "The Blue
Brothers are our biggest success story ever!!" As marketing specialists,
the Blue Brothers focus on all the North County inland communities, but
have marketed and sold homes in Central and South San Diego, Ramona,
Fallbrook and Oceanside. In his buyer's agent capacity, Tom has helped
buyers find homes in all of the North County Inland areas as well as
Central and South San Diego, La Jolla, Ramona, Fallbrook, and as far as
Temecula in Riverside County! Tom is also Certified Relocation
Specialist and helps families coming to or moving from San Diego!
In September of 2013, Prudential California Realty changed its name to
Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices ? California Properties. The Blue
Brothers stayed the course with the new company name and are looking
forward to many more years of success with Warren Buffett´s group of
Their "Blue Brothers" marketing techniques will make your home stand out
against others. Tom utilizes a 50-point marketing plan to get your home

Tom Rico.jpgPrior to Tom's real estate career he worked in the retail, grocery and hospitality sectors, this gives him a wide-breadth of fine-tuned customer service experience to draw upon. He began his line of work in customer service as a lead front office clerk and P.B.X operator at the luxury Hyatt Islandia Hotel, located near Sea World in San Diego. After
graduation, Tom accepted and held the position of Hotel Assistant Manager and Assistant Computer System Supervisor with the Hotel Intercontinental San Diego, where he assisted the General Manager and Resident Manager directly to ensure the smooth operation of all hotel activities.

In 1986, Tom took his polished customer service skills into the retail
arena by working with Fedco Department Store, Safeway Supermarkets, and
Smith's Food and Drug Stores. While holding positions with these
companies, he was responsible for everything from coordinating the
activities and work assignments of 80 full-time and part-time employees,
to order writing, timing sales events with vendors, building displays
and end caps, receiving, price control and advertisement setting,
assisting customers, and more.


In 1983, Tom received an Applied Bachelor of Public Administration
Degree with an emphasis in Administrative Management from San Diego
State University. While attending to his studies, Tom also participated
in a number of school organizations, accomplished many achievements, and
took part in several school activities, such as:

Associated Student Body Director of Transportation and Parking
Associated Student Body Member of Cultural Arts Board
Squad Leader of Aztec SDSU Marching Band and member of Aztec Pep Band
Earned Private Pilot's License
Earned Third-Class F.A.A. Medical Certificate
Participated in Intramural Basketball, Tennis, Golf, Bowling, and

Tom financed 100 percent of his college expenses by working part time.
In 1978, Tom graduated with membership in the Academic Honor Committee
from Mount Carmel High School.

Tom enjoys fatherhood, golf, tennis, basketball, and performing with the
San Diego State Pep Band and the Coastal Communities Concert Band.
